CARL FRANCIS BOGGS, 87, of Hagerstown, a resident of Reeder's Memorial Home, Boonsboro, Md., died on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the home. Born January 26, 1925 in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Herman and Rosella Maude Hull Boggs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsa Boggs who died February 20, 2003. He retired from the U. S. Army and also retired as a correctional officer at M.C.I. He was a member of American Legion, Post 42. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He is survived by a son, Dean M. Boggs and wife Cynthia L., of Williamsport, Md.; two sisters, Doris Lloyd of Glen Burnie, Md., and Mildred Malone of Cumberland, Md.; a brother, Kenneth Boggs of Cumberland, Md., and two grandchildren, Christopher M. Boggs and Jennifer M. Sword; and two great grandchildren, Gage Michael Boggs and Zoey M. Sword. He was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Sowers. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Avenue. The Rev. Christopher Moore will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be provided by Morris Frock American Legion, Post 42. The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p. m.
