Calvin Wayne Higgins, Sr., 69, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center. Born March 15, 1948 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Rita Delores (West) and Charles Russell Higgins, Sr. Calvin retired from Jefferson County Asphalt. He was a member of Williamsport Red Men Conococheague Tribe #84. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Higgins; two daughters, Kay Doyle and Shawn Hess; one son, Calvin W. Higgins, Jr.; one sister, Patricia Higgins; three brothers, Terry L. West, Dennis J. Higgins, and John F. Higgins; six grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. Calvin was also preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Higgins; two brothers, Charles (Chuck) Higgins, Jr. and Jeffrey Higgins; and two grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 1:30 to 2:30pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Graveside service will be held at 3pm at Riverview Cemetery in Williamsport, MD. Rev. Doug Forsythe will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to defray funeral expense.
