BILLY EDWARD MARKLE, 92, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014, at Waynesboro Hospital, in Waynesboro, PA. Born Feb. 12, 1921, in Amburst, PA, he was the son of the late Edward R. Markle and Pearl Switzer Markle. Billy was a WWII Veteran. He was employed with Mack Truck for 21 years, retiring in 1983. Billy was a member of the Virginia Avenue Church of God; Life Member of VFW Post 1936; and a member of Gettysburg Moose Lodge 1526. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Christine Markle; sons, Edward and Ronald Markle; sisters, Karla Marie Markle and Wanda Jane DeBar; and brothers, Francis E. (Gene) and Paul E Markle. Billy is survived by two daughters, Kathy Smail of Greensburg, PA, and Judy Coleman, of Greensburg, PA; two sons, Larry Markle of Niota, TN, and Bobby Markle of Youngwood, PA; four sisters, Donna Gail Serbinjak of Hunker, PA, Nancy Deloretta of New Stanton, PA, Betty Nepla of Ohio, and Becky Sue Mays of Latrobe, PA; two brothers, Gilbert Markle and George Markle, both of Greensburg, PA; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be Friday, January 24, 2pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Paul Harne will officiate. Graveside service will be held Saturday, January 25, 11am, at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington St, Hagerstown, MD. Military honors will be conducted at the gravesite by Washington County Amvets Post 10 and Marine Corp League of Hagerstown. The family will accept friends Friday, January 24, 2 hours prior to the funeral service.
