BEVERLY ANNE (BEV) MOWERY SHANHOLTZ, 70 of Hagerstown, Maryland, died peaceably on Friday, March 16, 2012 in her home, after fighting a courageous battle against cancer for two years. She was born in Hagerstown, to the late Roy Parlett and Ethel Mae (Myers) Parlett. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Francine Lisa Mowery; brothers, Robert Myers and Jack Myers; and her husband's grandmother, Agnes Russell. She attended Washington County schools. She was formerly employed at Fountainhead Country Club, and worked numerous years in the garment industry. She was a member of I.L.G.W.U. Garment Workers Union. She was an avid crafter, participating in many area craft shows. She was a member of the Salvation Army. She loved caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also had a tremendous love for all of her pets. Her hobbies of interest were crafts, sewing, and Charles Town for the slot machines. She also enjoyed spending time feeding the birds and squirrels in her backyard. She shared the family pool with all the neighborhood children and became their lifeguard every summer. She is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Robert Shanholtz, Sr.; sons, Richard A. and Samuel L. Mowery, and his wife Tammy, and Robert Shanholtz, Jr. and wife Carol; a daughter, Cathy J. Shanholtz; and niece, Peggy M. Huff, of whom she was a caregiver; sisters, Mary Smith, and husband John, and Betty Coyle; and brother, Kenny Parlett, and wife Sandy; grandchildren, Tiffany Mowery, Autumn Little, and husband Mike, Bobbi Lynn McCarter, and husband Austen, and Kristen Showe; great-grandchildren, Trenton, Emma, Xavier, and Levi; and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to John Marsh Cancer Center, Dr. McCormack, and all of the hospice caregivers. Funeral services will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown on Wednesday at 11:00 a. m. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p. m.
