Beverly Lorraine Rice, 100 of Hagerstown, MD went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 09, 2025.

Born on June 16, 1925, she was the eldest child of the late Ernest Shirey and Irene (Aushermen) Shirey. She was also the cherished sister of the late Warren Shirey.

Beverly was the devoted wife of the late Robert Elwood Rice, whom she married on August 12, 1949. They shared a loving life together until his passing in 1992.

A 1943 graduate of Hagerstown High School, Beverly pursued work in the insurance industry and later with the YMCA. She was a woman of deep faith who loved the Lord wholeheartedly. Beverly read her bible daily and lived each day striving to walk in His footsteps.

She was a longtime and dedicated member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where she joyfully served in many ministries. Beverly played in the handbell choir, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and often shared her beautiful singing voice and gifted piano playing. An accomplished musician, she even sang on the radio in the 1940s - a memory she held dear throughout her life. She was an excellent duck pin bowler and bowled in the Sunday School league for many years.

Beverly had a lifelong love for animals, and her beloved "fur babies" brought her comfort and companionship for many years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, ceramics, drawing and painting.

Her legacy of faith, kindness, music and devotion to family will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Beverly is survived by her children, Robin (Rob) Rice and wife Mary, and Joel (Joey) Rice and wife Melissa; her grandchildren, Patrica King and husband Dave, Brian Meck and wife Kristie, and E. Allen Summers Jr. and wife Anna; her great-grandchildren, Brianna, Isaac, Keira, Noah, Carter, Audrey and Landon; and nieces, Deb Smoot and Sheri O'Donnell, and nephews, Randy Shirey, Bret O'Donnell, Tom Nagle.

Family and friends can gather at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 6-8pm. A service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 11:00am with Pastor Kevin Smoot officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery Hagerstown, MD.
