Betty Jane
Stotler
Aug 12, 1935 — Aug 4, 2024
Betty Jane Stotler, age 88, of Funkstown, MD, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024. Born on August 12, 1935, in Berkeley Springs, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ward Lester and Myrtle Marian (Stotler) Hobday. Betty's spirit was a beacon of light to all who knew her, nurturing love and kindness throughout her life.
A devoted and loving wife, she spent her cherished moments alongside her late husband George Bate Stotler. Betty's legacy continued through her family, including her late daughter Tammy C. Stephens; her daughter, Betty "Ann" Stotler Palmer of Hagerstown, MD; her sons, George "Steve" Stotler and wife Debbie of Zullinger, PA, Scott A. Stotler and wife Dawn of Hedgesville, WV, and Doug Sales and fiancé Tara Kerlin, of Greencastle, PA; son-in-law, Ken Stephens; her dear sister, Myrtle "Sugar" (Hobday) Arnold of Berkeley Springs, WV; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
As a member of a large family that included six brothers and five sisters who predeceased her, Betty's heart was the cornerstone of family gatherings and treasured moments together. Her work as a homemaker was marked by an exceptional dedication that created a warm and loving environment for her family.
In addition to her husband and siblings, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Tammy Stephens, and a granddaughter, Sarah Palmer.
In her spare time, Betty could often be found absorbed in her garden, which reflected her profound love for flowers, or gleefully seeking treasures at local yard sales and thrift shops. Her passion for music and fishing were sources of joy and relaxation, providing countless memories for her loved ones to hold dear. Betty was, above all things, loving and selfless — characteristics that she generously bestowed on both friends and family.
Betty Jane Stotler's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family ties. She will be deeply, deeply missed here on earth, but is now in Heaven, free of pain and suffering.
