BETTY LOUISE KOUNTZ, 86, of 10824 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at her home. Born May 4, 1926, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Paul and Katherine Elise Sinnott Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Spurgeon Kountz on November 30, 1995. She was previously employed by W. F. Prior Company, and helped her father by working in the Green Lantern Restaurant. She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Kountz of Hagerstown; an aunt, Mary Alice McCaffrey of Westminister, Maryland; and numerous cousins. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown. Father Christopher Moore will be celebrant. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742, or to the family to help defray funeral costs.
