Obituary

BETTY STERLING BURGER, 90, of Hagerstown, MD, died on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Brookdale Hagerstown. Born March 23, 1925 in Williamsport, MD, she was the daughter of the late Norman B. and Pearl E. Anderson Sterling. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, O. Victor Burger, Sr. who passed away January 7, 1995. She attended North Hagerstown High School. Betty began work at the Western Maryland Railroad on April 7, 1943, and retired August 30, 1985. She was Chief Clerk of the Yard Office in Hagerstown. Betty was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She was a former member of the Fitness Priority, a member of Morris Frock, American Legion, Post 42 Auxiliary for forty-two years, and was past President. Betty is survived by her caregiver, Evelyn L. Farris of Hagerstown; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by five sisters, Mae Baker, Anna Martin, Jane Springer, Mary Mills and Nora Moser; and three brothers, W. Lee Sterling, Norman Sterling and Ralph Sterling. Funeral services will be held 1pm Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In omission of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church Building Fund, 1525 Oak Hill Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
