BETTIE HAZEL SAMPSELL, 89, a resident of Ravenwood Nursing Home, and formerly of 169 Rankin Circle, Martinsburg, West Virginia, died on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Meritus Medical Center. Born June 20, 1922 in Cearfoss, Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Nobel and Bertha Bowers Spickler. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Sampsell in 2002. She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Marie Ziegler, and husband, Sam, of Martinsburg, West Virginia; four sons, Wayne P. Sampsell, and wife, Mercedes, of Mesquite, Texas, Ronald Eugene of El Paso, Texas, James R. Sampsell, and wife, Doris, of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and Richard Lee Sampsell, and wife, Sherry, of Hagerstown; one sister, Pauline Renner of Boonsboro, Maryland; one granddaughter, two grandsons, and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Abel; and three brothers, Albert Spickler, Earl L. Spickler, and Harold E. Spickler. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Tuesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. Pastor Ed Wade will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 9 p. m.
