Becky Logan
Mcginnis
Sep 18, 1952 — Apr 8, 2024
Becky Logan McGinnis, 71, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 8th, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gwendolyn Logan and her sister, Susan (Logan) Nelson.
Becky was born and raised in Henderson, Kentucky, where she graduated from Henderson City High. Becky was known as a standout athlete and cheerleader. She went on to graduate from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor's Degree in Religion. On November 8th, 1976, Becky married Michael McGinnis, also from Henderson, Kentucky, and had three children.
Becky was instrumental in helping to start and grow churches in Florida and Ohio, where she was active in youth ministries and played the flute in the orchestra. After living in multiple states and abroad, Becky settled with her family in Virginia Beach, where she lived most of her adult life.
Becky touched many lives as an elementary school teacher at Rock Church Academy, and was known for her humor, wit, and passion for her students. All that knew Becky can attest to her intelligence and integrity. Becky loved to read, play cards and games, and spend time with her beloved grandchildren. Becky was also known for her love of Taco Bell, in particular the Mexican Pizza.
Becky not only enjoyed playing games with her family, but also maintained extensive relationships with friends throughout the world through social gaming platforms.
Although immunodeficiency contributed to a variety of illnesses, including COPD, Becky's very active mind and strong will allowed her to advocate for herself, which helped give her many additional years of life until ultimately COVID took the last of her fight.
Becky is survived by her former husband, Mike McGinnis, and their three children, Scott McGinnis, Rachel Horne, and Amanda Mose. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Anna Horne, Alyssa Horne, Logan McGinnis, Raegan McGinnis, Gwendolyn Mose, Jerome Mose, and Idella Mose.
The family will gather for a private celebration of life in Hagerstown, MD, where she lived during the final days of her life.
Donations can be made in Becky's name to Samaritan House, 2620 Southern Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
