Barbara Mae Cook, 75, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born September 29, 1947, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Jack Canfield and Sarah (Jenkins) Wilder.
Barbara was a Nashville recording artist. Her stage name was Sunny Davis. She toured extensively in the 1980's. After retiring from the entertainment industry, she became a country western DJ with a local radio station. She was the founder and owner of Hotspots, a local magazine of Washington County. She was an avid artist and a devote follower of Jesus Christ.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Wallace "Wally" Cook; two sons, Keni Melby and wife, Kerri, and Steve Melby; one stepdaughter, Dawn Hilderbrand; four grandchildren, Hilary Flaherty and husband, Thomas, Kenni Melby III and wife, Amber, JP Melby, and Natalie Melby; five great-grandchildren, Rowan Reed, Silas Reed, Walter Melby, Diana Melby, and Pearce Melby; two sisters, Joyce Belella and Reba Brandenburg; one brother, Bruce Wilder; and a special cousin, Morgan Jenkins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Virgil Dennis Melby; her sister, Rita Maxine Smith; stepfather, Harvey Hubble Wilder; and cousin, Jackson Markwood Jenkins II.
