ARTHUR JOSEPH NIELD, 83, of 711 Chestnut Street, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Providence Place in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Born December 26, 1929, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Frank Nield, Sr. and Margaret McNamee Nield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Nield. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Morris Frock Post 42. He was retired from C & P Telephone Company (Verizon). He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. He is survived by three daughters, Sheri Jean Miller of Tolland, Connecticut, and Brenda Ann Slick and JoEllen Marie Barnhart, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Anna Grace Wilson, and Jenny Marie Shaffer, both of Hagerstown; one brother, Frank W. Nield, Jr. of Williamsport, Maryland; and six grandchildren, Michael Barnhart, Andrew Barnhart, Adam Barnhart, Addison Slick, Alexandra Slick, and Dorothy Miller. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Ella Myers, and Catherine Rowe. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. C. Michael Henning will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Reformed Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be provided by American Legion Morris Frock Post 42. Family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
