Arlene May Pfeiffer, a lifelong resident of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully at Doey's House on April 30, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on May 5, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Orville and Naomi (Crawford) Obitts. Arlene was a cherished member of the community and a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her.
She attended Hagerstown High School and carried the values of education and lifelong learning throughout her life. She found joy in the simple pleasures, such as working on word puzzles, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and the thrill of scratch-off tickets. Arlene was also known for her love of the beach, her passion for dancing, and her unwavering faith as a devoted Christian.
Above all, Arlene was a family person. Her children, Gary Pfeiffer and his wife Cheryl, Steven Pfeiffer and his wife Debra, and Karen Highbarger and her husband Paul, were the center of her world. She was a loving grandmother to Roxanne Staubs and her husband Calvin, Steven Pfeiffer Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Crystal Shaak and her husband George, Ryan Nicholson, and Jennifer Pfeiffer. Her five great-grandchildren were a source of immense pride and joy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Nanette Pfeiffer; grandson, Christopher Nicholson; brother, Gerald Obitts; and ex-husband, Leo Pfeiffer.
A Memorial Service will be planned at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Doey's House, 11370 Caring Pathway Lane, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
