Obituary

Ardell "Tuck" Doyle Stottler, 86, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at his home. Born June 23, 1934 near Indian Springs, MD, he was the son of the late Ardell D. Stotler and Catherine (Weller) Shirley. He graduated from Clear Spring High School, class of 1953. He was a four-year veteran of the U.S. Airforce; discharged as a staff sergeant in October 1958. He worked many years at Antietam Paper Company - Grand Union and retired from Hydro-Pak, all in Hagerstown, MD. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Hancock, MD. Tuck is survived by his wife, Sonja Stottler; his only child, Vicky Darlene Stottler Delawter of Hagerstown, MD; two grandchildren, Holly Smith Duffey and husband, Sean Duffey, of Elicott City, MD, and Tannen Paul Smith of Hagerstown, MD; two great-grandchildren, Elisha Kate and Sagan Cyle Duffey of Ellicott City; a sister, Janet Stotler Andrews of Hagerstown, MD; one half-brother, Frederick Allen Shirley of Berkeley Springs, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ralph Shirley of Clear Spring; two half-brothers, Richard Shirley of Hagerstown and Donald Lee Shirley of Big Pool, MD; and one son-in-law, Michael Delawter. A graveside service will be held 11am on Friday, January 29, 2021, at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD.
