ANNE SEGGERTY HINKLE, 99, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Williamsport Nursing Home. Born January 29, 1917 in West Leisenring, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Cira Seggerty. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Hinkle in 1992. She was a graduate of University of Maryland, short course. Anne was employed with Hagerstown YMCA as membership secretary and desk clerk for over 20 years. Anne was a member of Salem Reformed Church. She was previously a member of Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown, where she served as a Church Elder, Deacon and Circle Chairperson. She was former President of Girl Scouts Leaders Association, a Girl Scout Leader and Boy Scout Den Mother; was a member of Women of Moose Chapter #342, she served as past Assistant Guide, Jr. Regent, Sr. Regent, College of Regents and Academy of Friendship; President of Washington Street PTA; life member of Maryland Congress of PTA; member of Senior Citizen Visitation Program, AARP; former member and Past Nobel Grand of Rebecca Lodge; Business and Professional Women's Club; past president and member of Broad Acres and Long Meadow Homemakers Clubs; she also served many years as the YMCA Tri-Y-Hi Girls Club advisor. Anne volunteered at the Maryland Theatre, Hagerstown Community College ARCC, Western Maryland Med Bank, and Western Maryland Hospital Center Auxiliary logging over 7, 000 hours. In 2004, she received the People's Choice Award by The Community Foundation of Washington County, MD, Inc. Anne was also chosen as Washington County's "Most Wonderful Citizen" in 2006 at the age of 89. Anne is survived by one brother, Lewis Seggerty of Colorado Springs, CO; two sons, Larry Hinkle of Carlisle, PA, and David A. Hinkle of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter-in-law, Cindy Hinkle of Hagerstown, MD; four grandchildren, Diane Hinkle, Jason Hinkle, Kimberly Hinkle and Tracy Wellman; and six great grandchildren, Avery, Landon, Owen, Carter, and Caroline Hinkle, and Hunter Wellman. In addition to her husband, Anne was preceded in death by one son, John M. Hinkle, II; one daughter, Jessie Anne Hinkle; two sisters, Jean Vaughan and Julia Savage; and two brothers, Steve and Frank Seggerty. Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 20, 2016 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. Steve Wagoner will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the YMCA of Hagerstown, P.O.
