Obituary

Alfred Earl Gill 95, of Hagerstown, passed away at home on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

Born in Patton, PA on December 16, 1928, he was the son of Maximilian and Ella Craver Gill.

Al was married to Rosemary Long for 69 years and he was very proud of his family and home. He served in the army where he developed his love of aviation which continued with his occupation at Martin Marietta in Baltimore and Fairchild in Hagerstown. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, making wooden toys for his grandchildren and having Sunday Brunch. There wasn't a tool he didn't have or a project he couldn't complete. His sense of humor will live on through his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by seven children, Phillip Gill (Adele), Mary Hardy ( Dave), Jane Krumpe (Fred), Theresa Kline, Tony Gill(Lisa Moore), Carolyn Mease (Brian) and Irene Dimaio(Tony); daughter-in-law, Inga Yungwirth (Joe); 29 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary Long; son Jerry Gill, son-in-law Guy Kline; four sisters, Florence, Ella Marie, Maxine and Marion; and four brothers, Clair, Craver, Herman and Pat.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 13th, with Rev. Peter Martyr as celebrant, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, MD.
