ALBERT C. LOWRY JR. of Hagerstown passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, at his home. Born December 7, 1927, in Falling Waters, WV, he was the son of the late Albert C. Sr. and Hazel E. Black Lowry. Albert graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army for a year and a half at the Pentagon. He was employed with the Hagerstown Police Department from March 3, 1951 to July 1, 1984, retiring as a Lieutenant after thirty-three years of service. He was a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. He was employed with Columbia Bank (Hagerstown Trust) as a courier from 1984 to 2003. Albert was a life member of the National Rifle Association and started the National Rifle Association Youth Rifle Club. He was a member and past president of Lodge 88 of the Fraternal Order of Police and served on the Washington County Transportation Commission. Albert is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Hilda Hause Lowry; two sons, Douglas H. Lowry of Hagerstown and Michael A. Lowry and wife, Shelby, of Big Pool; grandchildren, Lissa N. Showe of Hagerstown, Wendy N. Ebersole and husband, Ryan, of Maugansville, Kelli L. Crisfulli of Sykesville, Justin M. Lowry and wife, Amanda, of Hagerstown, Derek M. Hanes and wife, Laura, of Mercersburg, Chad A. Lowry of Big Pool, and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Lloyd A. May. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Cody D. Lowry and two brothers, Roy and Robert Lowry. Services will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Chaplain Jeffrey Casto will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The F.O.P. will conduct a service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
