Obituary

Albert F. Armstrong, 98, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Monday, January 27, 2020, at Fahrney-Keedy Nursing Home. Born December 18, 1921, he was the son of the late Herman Jacob and Daisy Irene Armstrong. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, of 65 years who passed away November 10, 2008. He retired from Mack Truck in 1986 after 23 years of service. An avid golfer, he is believed to be the last surviving charter member of Beaver Creek Country Club. He was also involved in boys baseball for nearly 40 years as a manager. He was president of the Colt League, Eastern Tournament Director of Pony Baseball, and inductee into the Pony Baseball/Softball "Wall of Fame" at Pony Headquarters in Washington, PA. His other interests included reading, listening to classical music, and playing the piano. Albert is survived by his sons, Dennis (wife, Dixie) and Timothy; daughter, Carol; two grandchildren, Carrie Richmond and Cory Armstrong; and two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Gabriel. Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2020 from 7-9pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
