Adelaide Jeanette "Toe" Bower was born in Knoxville, Maryland on June 8, 1923. She was just two months short of reaching 100 years of age when she died on April 1, 2023.

Her life was blessed with love in many ways. She loved the Lord and received his love in return. She believed in Jesus as her personal savior and was certain of an ever-lasting life. Up until her recent decline, she read her Bible every day. Of great importance to her was praying for her family.

Adelaide married Marvin Lewis Bower on September 10, 1944 during the war. She loved him for 65 years until his death from Alzheimer's disease in 2009. She looked forward to a heavenly reunion with him, expecting his memory to be restored.

Toe enjoyed being surrounded by her family and they loved being with her. She opened her heart to all of us and made each one of us feel special. Over the years we shared camping trips, picnics, fishing, canoeing, bicycling and walking. She was an avid horseshoe player. Just don't get her laughing or she would throw one ringer after another. At one time Toe was a Maryland state archery champion. She excelled at making flower arrangements for home and church. Toe belonged to multiple duck pin bowling leagues over the years. She loved to host many family members for her famous holiday feasts at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Toe was the anchor for her close family which included four children, eight grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Chris was the first-born son. He and his wife Jennifer have one son, Kelly. Kelly and his wife Kristy have Jackson and Adelaide in their family. Kent is the #2 son. He and his wife Erna have three daughters. Leanna was born first. She married David Soroka and they have two children, Landon and Emmery. Then came the twins, Katherine and Jacqueline. Katherine is pursuing her career. Jacky married Steven San Miguel. Their son is Stevie. Marvin Jr. is the third son. Marvin married Bonnie and has two sons. Jason, together with his wife Emily, have two children, Madison and Grayson. Zachary is married to Sarah; they have two children, Mason and Avery. Toe's only daughter, Trina, married Henry Burtner. Their first child, Dustin married Joanna. They have three sons, Caleb, Micah, and Josiah. Their second child, Tillie, married Jonathan Butler. They added Trinity, Eli, Honor, and Ben to the family tree.

The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 1-2pm. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2pm, with Pastors Henry Burtner, Dustin Burtner, and Jonathan Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Funkstown Cemetery.
