WAYNE CHALMERS DESHONG, 73, of 13621 Indian Springs Road, Big Pool, Maryland, died on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at his home. Born August 29, 1935 in Harrisonville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Chester W. and Melva Harriet Deshong. His hobby was truck driving. He was employed as a truck driver with Rayloc, retiring after forty-eight years. He was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church. He was a member of the Williamsport Redmen, Conococheage Tribe #84, and the American Legion in McConnellsburg. He was a Nascar Racing fan, and Dale Earnhardt Sr. was his favorite driver. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Deshong; two daughters, Doris Ann Lewis of Hagerstown, and her fianc, Kenneth Hovermale, and Diane Kay Richardson of Hagerstown; two sons, Gary Wayne Deshong of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, and Glenn Ray Deshong of Hagerstown, and his fianc, Shirley Steele; granddaughters, Ashley Marie Lewis, and Trista Diana Kershner, both of Hagerstown, and Stacey Lynn Carbaugh of Greencastle, Pennsylvania; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton RayAnn Swope, and Charles Randall Kershner, both of Hagerstown. He was preceded in death by one sister, Norma "Polly" Truax; two brothers, Robert C. Deshong and Norman Paul Deshong; one granddaughter, Lisa Ann Lewis; one grandson, Charles E. Richardson, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Linda G. Deshong; and son-in-law, Charles E. Richardson, Sr. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Monday at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Pastor Lynn Munson, and Pastor Jeffery Anthony will officiate.
