Obituary

RICHARD JOHN JONES, 78, of 17521 Green Meadow Lane, Hagerstown, died on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital. Born July 21, 1932 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John Mitchell and Irene Baker Jones. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army in the Tank Division. He was employed by Johns-Manville Corporation in New Jersey for thirty years; and Xerxes in Williamsport for eight years, and part time at Food Lion on Virginia Avenue. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a member of F.B.O.E. in New Jersey. He is survived by his significant other of thirty-two years, Carol George; one daughter, Donna Melton of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania; one son, William George of Rahway, New Jersey; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a. m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown. Rev. Christopher Moore will be celebrant. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. Family will receive friends at the church one-half hour prior to the service. Family requests omission of flowers and memorial donations to Wounded Warriors Project, 7020 AC Skinner Parkway, Suite 100, Jacksonville, Florida 32256. Arrangement by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown.
