MARY CATHERINE YOUNG, 84, of Sand Wedge Drive, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Sunday, May 9, 2004 at the Julia Manor Nursing Home. Born November 9, 1919 in Smithsburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Young and Mary Faith Willett Young Brenner. She was employed with Fairchild Corporation in Hagerstown, Germantown, Maryland and Frederick, Maryland, retiring after fifty years of employment. She was a member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Smithsburg, Maryland. She was a member of the A.A.R.P., and the A.A.A. She is survived by two nieces, Mary Jane Shipley, and Linda L. Lewis, both of Hagerstown; two nephews, John K. Young, and Ernest E. Young, both of Boonsboro, maryland; three great-nieces, three great-nephews; five great-great-nieces, one great-great-nephew; and one great-great-great-niece. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard K. Young, and Jack W. Young; and step-father, Jacob E. Brenner. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p. m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740.
