Martha "Mary" Catherine Gossard, 97, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Williamsport Nursing Home. Born January 1, 1921 in Halfway, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Nellie Adams. Mary is survived by two daughters, Linda Rothenburg and husband, Richard, Frederick, MD and Mary Ann Gelwicks and husband, Bob, Hagerstown, MD; two sons Robert Gossard and spouse, Carl Ziebe, Lake Anna, VA, and Richard Gossard and wife, Sue DeLost, Washington, PA; three grandchildren, Richard Rothenburg and wife Jami, Coconut Creek, FL, Anne Rothenburg, Alexandria, VA, and Richard Murray and wife, Kim, Hagerstown, MD; step child, Angie Friend and husband Joe, Bruceton Mills, WV; four great grandchildren, Elise Rothenburg, Ariel Rothenberg, Nathan and Austin Murray; and one step great grandchild, Lillie Fulton of Hagerstown; in addition to several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years. Charles Gossard. Mary was a busy homemaker with four children who volunteered with many organizations, to include the Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels and the Hospital Auxiliary to name a few. Mary was a lifetime member of St. Marks Lutheran Church. Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the personal and loving care that both she and Charles received over the last seven years at Williamsport Retirement village. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. G. Stanley Steele will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the serve at the funeral home.
