John Sytch, 88, of Falling Waters, WV was welcomed by his Heavenly Father on October 18, 2017. He died at his home. He won the battle with cancer. Born September 22, 1929 in New York, he was the son of the late John K. and Anna Sytch. He graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, NJ, and graduated from Davis and Elkins College in Elkins, WV in 1951 with a degree in Civil Engineering. John was employed with Fairchild Aircraft as a Civil Engineer, and thoroughly enjoyed designing and creating. After retirement, he owned the White Oak Reality for 5-6 years. He was the owner of the Ole Treasure Shop Antiques for over 53 years, and really took delight in collecting and restoring the old treasures of long ago. Until recently, he was the manager of the Falling Waters Flea Market in Falling Waters, WV. John learned to play the trumpet at a very young age, and enjoyed playing in his local church. Later, he played for several local church orchestras. He played in a small dance band in the 1950s, the Tall Cedars Band, The Hagerstown Municipal Band, and then played solo trumpet for the Rohrersville, MD Band from 1989-2005. He continued to play solo trumpet for Little Falls Presbyterian Church in Falling Waters, WV until recently. He used the same trumpet the entire time. John accepted Christ as his Savior at a very early age, and was a member of the Little Falls Presbyterian Church in Falling Waters, WV. He was also a member of the Hagerstown Masonic Lodge 217 AF & AM, and the Tall Cedars Post 95. Golfing was his favorite sport, and he enjoyed the golfing trips with the Tall Cedars. John was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He enjoyed his family and looked forward to their pursuits. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary (Myers) Sytch; daughters, Mary Arif, Susan Frey and husband, Kevin, Pamela Cook and husband, Larry, Janice Adams and companion, Nathan Desloge; grandchildren, Sarah Cook, Sean Cook and wife, Heather, Brittany and Colton Frey, Sabrina Arif, Mark and Erica Adams, Jennifer McMellen and husband, Dennis; two great grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis House of West Haven, CT; one niece; and two nephews. Memorial Services will be held on November 11, 2017 at 11am at Little Falls Presbyterian Church in Falling Waters, WV. Pastor Paul Wolverton will officiate. The family will have a private graveside service in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
