JAMES SAMUEL MILLS, 71, of Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, October 1, 2012 at his home. Born May 2, 1941 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Viola Richardson Lowans. He retired from the U.S. Air Force on November 22, 1963. He was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church. He was a member of Paralyzed Veterans of America, Moose International, Williamsport Redmen, Funkstown American Legion #211, and Train Collectors Association. He is survived by two brothers, Charles Marshall Mills of Funkstown, Md. and Jerry Leslie Lowans of Martinsburg, West Va.; ten nieces and nephews, Mark "Jimmy" Mills, Mike Mills, John Mills, Jerry Mills, April Mills, Keith Ashton, Holly Brady, Justin Lowans, Gabriel Lowans and Janessa Lowans; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carole Louise Mohr and a nephew, Charles "Butch" Mills. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md. The Rev. Jerry L. Lowans will officiate. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by American Legion, Post #42.
