JACK CARL HAYS, SR., 86, of 216 Devonshire Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at the Washington County Hospital. Born November 29, 1919 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Clarence Edgar Hays, Sr. and Bessie Florence Moore Hays. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Navy. He was employed with Jamison Door Company for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Greencastle Sportsmen's Club, and a life-member of the Maryland Hunt Licensees and Local 340, Carpenter's Union. He is survived by his wife, Pauline E. Garmong Hays; two sons, Jack C. Hays, Jr. of State Line, Pennsylvania, and Robert M. Hays of Hagerstown; two sisters, H. Helene Pickral of Norfolk, Virginia, and Patricia A. Pryor of Hagerstown; four grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by three sisters, L. Virginia Kline, Vivian G. Long, and B. Nadine Dill; and one brother, Clarence E. Hays, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery where military services will be provided by American Legion Post #42. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105.
