EMMA ELIZABETH CONRAD, 83, of 145 East North Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Washington County Hospital. Born December 20, 1924 in Clear Spring, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Anne Kelly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel H. Conrad in 1990. She was a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, and the Comrades/Monthly Fellowship Class. She loved to make coffee for the members of the church. She worked for the Resh Family for thirty-five years, and at various diners - Prospect, Always and Richardson's. Her favorite past time was watching her great-grandson, Steven at his baseball games, as well as sitting on her front porch giving greetings to anyone who passed by. She is survived by her son, Richard Shoemaker of Hagerstown; step-daughter, Frances C. Smith of Hagerstown; grandsons, Richard Shoemaker, II, Steven Shoemaker, twins, Ronald and Donald Shoemaker, and Brent Baker, all of Hagerstown; six great-granddaughters, eight great-grandsons, all of Hagerstown, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Gina VanWinkle. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Thursday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Jerry Lowans will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p. m.
