ELLERY (GINGER) GINGERY, JR., 84, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died Sunday, January 3, 2010 at MNS Nursing Home. Born January 24, 1925 in Woodland, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Ellery Gingery, Sr. and Ethel Conway Gingery. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army in the European Theater 4th division 12th infantry. He attended Bishtown and Woodland Schools in Woodland, PA. Ginger was self employed for twenty-one years as an excavating contractor. He was previously employed with Burkholder and Burkholder Highway Construction in Winchester, VA, Norman C. Klipp Contractor and Robert Daley Contractors. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Williamsport American Legion Post No. 202. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Gladys Welty Gingery; two sisters, Elva Lumadue of West Decatur, PA and Dorothy Zeims of Leesburg, IN; a special niece, Sharon Robinson of Williamsport, MD and two special nephews, Jerry Slonaker of Williamsport and Dan E. Mowen of Hagerstown, He was preceded in death by three sisters, Twila Allen, Verda Hoy and Mary Putt; two brothers, Robert Gingery and Harold Gingery.
