DORIS ROSE SMITH, 88, formerly of Jefferson Street, Hagerstown, Md. died on Monday, October 13, 2008 at Fahrney Keedy Nursing Home in Boonsboro, Maryland. Born March 8, 1920 in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Edwin B. and Ellen G. Hartle Smith. She had been employed with Fairchild Aircraft retiring in 1982 after 32 years. She was a member of Appalachian Trail Club. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She is survived by several cousins, including caregivers, Richard E. Myers and JoAnn Plum, both of Hagerstown. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a. m. at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Robert E. McIntyre will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 216 N. Cleveland Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740.
