DAVID LEON TAYLOR, 62, of 16430 Woburn Road, Sharpsburg, Maryland, died on Monday, May 23, 2011 at his home. Born March 14, 1949 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Howard Reichard and Margaret Irene Houser Taylor. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Con-Way Freight. He received the Million Mile Safe Driver award. He was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of American Legion, Clear Spring. He is survived by his wife, Yoko Taylor; two daughters, Jackie T. Martin of Blacksburg, South Carolina, and Yvonne T. Mahabir of Fairfax, Virginia; one son, Anthony (Tony) Taylor of Sharpsburg, Maryland; five sisters, Phyllis Zittle, Gloria Rudisill, Shirley Lowe, Margaret Heleine, and Linda Everhart; four brothers, Gerald Taylor, Howard Taylor, Robert Taylor, Gary Taylor; and four grandchildren, Justin Taylor, Sullivan Mahabir, Pheobe Mahabir, and Autumn Taylor; thirty six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Dana Whittington; and five brothers, Raymond Taylor, Charles Taylor, Richard Taylor, Ned Taylor, and Ted Taylor; and stepmother, Anna B. Taylor. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p. m. Thursday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service.
