CHARLES LINDBERGH BEAN, 86, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born June 29, 1927 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Archie Samuel and Susan Elizabeth Kretzer Bean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Bertha (Sylvia) Mae Bean; sister, Vivian Knick; brothers, Harold E. Bean, Eston Bean and Archie Samuel Bean (Junior); and his 3 companions, Jacob, Tilly and Bear. He is survived by his son, Charles Timothy Bean and wife Norma; his daughter, Sandra Mae Tressler and husband Clyde; grandsons, Clyde Charles Tressler and Juan Trevino; granddaughters, Melissa K. Smith, Lorie Trevino, Jennifer A. Everts and wife, Jennifer D. Everts and Crystal Reichenbaugh. He also had 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was a life member of Western Enterprise Fire Company, where he served on the Board of Trustees. He was also a member of the Funkstown Lions Club; The Alsatia Club, VFW, Amvets Post 10, and the Funkstown American Legion Post 211. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, serving under General Patton. After he was discharged, he re-enlisted. He retired from the City of Hagerstown in 1980 as a foreman for the Street Department, after a career of 30 years. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Chaplain Col. Richard W. Bower, U.S. Army Retired will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Graveside Military honors will be conducted by the Washington County AMVETS, Post 10 and the Marine Corp. League of Hagerstown.
