Andrew Wells Ridenour, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on May 1, 2026. He was born on November 3, 1937 to Andrew and Dorothy (Young) Ridenour.
Wells was a 1955 graduate of Hagerstown High School and went on to graduate from Hagerstown Business College in 1957. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Naval Air Reserve Unit and was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis, where he was stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Following his military service, Wells began a long and successful career with Coss Welding Supply. Through dedication and leadership, he rose to become president of the company, serving in that role until his retirement in 1991.
Throughout his working years, Wells was deeply involved in civic and professional service. He was an active member of the Boonsboro Optimist Club, Hagerstown Jaycees, and served as a district representative for the National Welding Association. He also held memberships in Elks Lodge #378, Eagles Club #694, the Moose Lodge, Red Men #84, and the Boonsboro American Legion. Wells was a member of Fountain Head Country Club and Glen Eagle Country Club in Naples, Florida where he enjoyed winters.
Wells was a proud, lifelong member of Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, serving in various capacities and was deeply committed to strengthening its service-oriented mission.
Above all, Wells dearly loved his family and friends. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Karen Coss Ridenour; his daughter, Alison; sons-in-law Jerzy Kornilow and David Resetar; his brother David Ridenour; and his sister Dorothy DiPoli (Maurice). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Christopher (Teresa), Andrew (Haleigh), and Caroline Resetar, and Jacob and Nicholas Kornilow. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Michael (Eileen) and AnnMarie DiPoli, Kimberly Ridenour, Lori Beth Ridenour Martin (Kenlin), and Mackenzie Ridenour.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Dorothy Ridenour; his sister-in-law, Sylvia Ridenour; and his cherished eldest daughter, Stephanie Resetar.
Wells will be remembered for his integrity, service to others, and unwavering devotion to family, faith, and community.
The family welcomes you to join them in honoring Wells at a viewing from 2-4pm and 5-7pm on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.
A funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, 201 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD with Rev. Dr. E. Scott Winnette officiating.
